Hiking offers people the chance to see flowers in bloom as they wander through trees and prairies or along wetland ponds and creeks, and to see animals scamper by —just the ticket for an enjoyable day. In addition to the recreation aspect, hiking can relieve stress and burn calories; ideal elements for a healthy lifestyle.
The Conservation District has over 40 miles of trails scattered throughout 16 sites that are waiting to be explored. In addition, the 26 mile Prairie Trail, 3.5 mile H.U.M. trail and the 2 mile Hebron trail offer longer treks for hikers and runners who want the challenge of longer distances.
